UKM Speech Science interview
Finally,
this is the one that I really wish to share with you all. I had attend UKM
Speech science interview in the afternoon session. Luckily, there are around 12
candidates only in the afternoon session and thus, it took me around 30 mins
only to complete the interview session
First of
all, I think most of the people will confused with this programme. When I get
my offer letter, I have to check for many times to ensure that “Speech Science”
is really what I think it is because the “Science” word is quite confusing. In
addition, UKM speech science programmes is the same as USM speech pathology or
speech language pathologist. You should also realise that UKM is the pioneer
university in Malaysia offering this course and students get the chance to do
their practical in the largest speech and audiology clinic in the Asean
country.
During the
interview session, the setting and procedure is the same like occupational
therapy interview. It is a 3-3 interview and you may go in with audiologist
candidates as Speech science and audiology programme is closely related, or we
call it as “SISTA Course”.
These are
the questions I get during the interview session:
1.
Why
you want to study in UKM?
2.
Is
this your First Choice in UPU, if not what if I offer you ur 1st and
2nd choice altogether, where will you go?
3.
If
you still insist in choosing this programme, are you telling the same thing
during other interview session like your 1st choice interview?
4.
Let’s
say you are conducting a group project, and you found that there’s 1 member who
didn’t attend all the meeting but get the highest score, what would you do?
From what
I had experienced, this programme is amazing as we learn how to play with toys,
interview a lot of speech therapist and all the senior here is very helpful and
friendly. I am so happy I get to be a part of the rehab sciences member and
really be a part of the world by helping people.
I pay a
lot of respect to those who are in the rehab field as I feel that yes, we seek
help from the doctor when we are sick, but I think as a developing country, we
need more professionals from the rehab field like occupational therapy and
speech therapy who play a part by helping more people with disabilities to join
and contribute to the society.
Some
people may look down on this course, but I can tell u, its not easy to have a
child who have disability. Some client may look normal, talk normal, but really
not normal when they cannot identify basic object. So if we have no speech
science professional in this world, who is going to help them?
So, Be
brave and all the best in the interview. Wish to see you in UKM.
